LEGION Simulator Help

What's New in LEGION 2023?

LEGION 2023 brings multiple modelling, analysis and usability improvements across the LEGION Data Template, LEGION Model Builder, and LEGION Simulator.

LEGION Data Template

  • Define different EDOTs for each Service in the Platform-Train Settings sheet.
  • The Origin Settings sheet and the Platform-Train Settings sheet now support up to 300 tables each.

LEGION Model Builder

  • Simultaneously edit multiple Service EDOTs in Service Timetables.
  • Modify Platform edges without deleting and redrawing the Platform (‘unbind’ and ‘rebind’ Platform edges).
  • Automatically detect, alert, and unbind Platform edge CAD when deleting CAD Layers where elements are used for Platform edges.
  • Select CAD on locked CAD Layers when defining PTI Carriages.
  • During CAD import, restore the last-used Import, Simulation and Autonavigation tick box selections for imported CAD Layers.
  • Automatically unbind Platform edge CAD when overwriting existing CAD Layers during CAD import.
  • Assign entity delays by Entity Type or Final Destination in Delay Points, Gates, and Mesoscopic Transit Zones.

LEGION Simulator

  • Cameras now show their exact field of view in the workspace.
  • Precisely manipulate the size, shape, and position of Cameras, both in the workspace and in Camera property dialogs.
  • Camera previews show the exact field of view in Camera property dialogs and the Layout Designer.
  • An adjustable ‘Whole Model’ Camera covers the entire model. Its aspect ratio can be modified to suit output requirements.
  • Global and per-project defaults to help create consistent recordings:
    • Camera aspect ratio.
    • Video size and aspect ratio.
    • Map image size, file format, and aspect ratio.
    • Graph image size, file format, and aspect ratio.
  • All new Cameras are automatically initialised with the configurable default Camera aspect, to help efficiently generate consistent outputs.
  • All new Map images, Graph images, and video outputs are automatically initialised to the configurable default sizes, file formats, and aspect ratios.
  • Camera transitions are now set in Camera activation Events on the Timeline.
  • Timeline tooltips show Camera transition details.
  • In the Timeline, ‘Active Camera’ is the default option for Record AVI Events.
  • Configuration dialogs for saving images of Maps, Graphs, and screen snapshots offer a wider range of aspect ratios and sizes. Default sizes and/or aspect ratios are selected automatically, making image generation more efficient and consistent.
  • Direction Modifiers can affect entities in specified Mesoscopic Transit Zones.
  • Option to simulate Carriage interiors of PTI Train Services mesoscopically, which helps simulate train services where extremely high pedestrian densities occur, for instance peak commuter metro services.
  • New default Visual Configs dedicated to video and Map recordings.
  • Entity Tracking Filter content is saved to, and restored from, the ANA file.

LEGION Model Builder and LEGION Simulator

  • Rename tool automatically detects the most appropriate operating mode, based on current selections and search results.
  • ‘Copy with Basepoint’ right-click menu option for selected objects and CAD elements.
  • The ‘Copy’ and ‘Copy with Basepoint’ tools support repeated duplication.
  • Filter property pages automatically expand the contents of the ‘selected’ tree, so filter content is visible immediately.
  • A new toolbar buttons enables rapid switching between white and black backgrounds.
